The VEVOR 230 W chain grinder is a bench sharpener built around a 5.5 inch wheel spinning at 3000 RPM, an aluminium body, a swivelling vise with an angle scale, a depth stop and a small work lamp. The vise and depth stop are the strengths; the angle scale is the weakness. Set the angles with a $15 digital angle finder and it turns out chains that cut better than hand-filed ones.

Setup and first chain
Bolt it to a bench or use the wall-mount holes; a grinder that moves makes angles drift. Fit the 1/8 in wheel for 1/4 in, 3/8 low profile and .325 in chains, the 3/16 in wheel for 3/8 in and .404 in, then dress the wheel flat with the included stone. Set the vise to your chain's top-plate angle (most chains use 25° to 35°; the chain box or the maker's chart tells you) and the head tilt if your chain calls for it. Clamp the chain, bring the wheel down to the first cutter, set the depth stop so you remove the least metal that produces a clean edge, and grind every cutter on one side before swivelling the vise for the other side. A dull 20 inch chain takes about five minutes once you have the rhythm.
Two habits matter. Check the angle scale against a digital angle finder once, because owners report the printed scale can be a few degrees off. And take light passes: a 230 W motor will bog if you push, and blue cutters mean you have burned the temper.
